It was terrific to see you all at the Psych. meeting on the 2nd! I enjoyed our conversations. I am also anxious to see how your data conversations go so make sure you share feedback.
As you get back into the swing of staffings - remember our plans to change how we organize our time so that the bulk of staffing time is spent on how and what accommodations and modifications will look like for kids. This was a great idea to help make student support plans be more meaningful.
Have a great start and talk to you later -- I mean blog you later! Ha!
Okay. I'm now on the "blog." We've enrolled several new kids, and I'm expecting some transfers. I'm excited to focus on accommodations and modifications in our meetings. Have a great week!
Old dog, new tricks. Blogging, who would have thunk it. I have yet to learn how to text on my cell phone and checking its voice mail is still a mystery. I will need to remember to check the blog for updated comments. I hope each of you has a very good year. May our hearts and our data continue to be true.
Okay...up and running in Hugoton! I love this idea. My data conversations have been going well. I am still working on Elkhart, but I am set up to do some inservice there. I find the conversations to go easier when I say, "let's look at the data". (Thank you Shelli for the idea!) Anyhow, I have my hs principal and supt. in Hugoton on board for BIG data discussions and hopefully we will see some improvements! Take care and let me know how everyone's year is going!
Any comments on lisps? I know the SLP's are not supposed to work to improve them. Why not? I really think a lisps could hinder a person's ability to get a job. What do you guys think? Does research show most elementary kids outgrow this?
Glad the data conversations are going well for you Sara. It does take a lot of stress out of it when you look at numbers. Teachers are not as likely to be defensive.
It looks like I may need to write a 30 day IEP. I don't do this on a regular basis, so haven't done one in a while. Could someone give me a quick refresher with what paperwork needs to look like?? Do I put a 30 day on the web? I don't think I do, but cannot remember for sure.
I think I put mine on the web and then entered new data in the same report--didn't start a whole new IEP even though the dates will change. I did one of these a couple years ago.
I'm finally getting signed up for blogging. This year has been crazy busy so far. Does anyone else not know if they are coming or going? Hope everyone's year is starting off well!
Wow!!! I am so glad to you all of you blogging. I think this is so KEWL. Schedules are busy and everyone is finding this is such a busy time of year. Keep your chin up. It has sure been hectic around here.
I want to thank all of you for the work you are doing with the data. It makes my job easier.
Good to see all of you on October 8th. I enjoyed working with the new people and was reminded that, regardless of the education debate in Kansas and across the nation, it is our caring for students, their families, and each other that makes the difference. I'll need to make sure I talk to Marcy about the data format and make sure I get it right. I was amazed that I actually found it back to the blog site. It had to be dumb luck.
One more thing... I need some notes from John Maag's visit nearly two years ago. I found the one-page agenda, but would like more. If anyone is willing to copy their notes and mail them to me, that would be super! I ordered one of his books, but I would really like to have the powerful struggles book. I can't seem to find it somewhere that will allow me to order it. Maybe he's coming out with a newer edition. If anyone has this book, could I borrow it? Thanks.
Here it is, November 5th and I finally set up a blog account. I can't figure out where my picture is??? Sorry it took so long. Tomorrow I am going to hang up my Christmas lights. Yes I know it is early, but I will be gone over Thanksgiving and the weather is so nice, plus I have a lot of lights. Camren wanted to stay home for Christmas so we are really going to decorate-I am very excited to not be traveling!
Reminder that we have our next psych meeting December 3rd!
Also, check your email. We are having a Solution Seeker workshop on December 10th at HPEC. It is solution focused therapy but geared to helping you help other adults in a solution focused manner!
Coop data is interesting! Thanks for all the work. We will share at next meeting.
Go LeNnis with the Christmas lights - my favorite time of the year!!!
Sounds great, Ronda. Well, I enjoyed the one week that wasn't so busy. I think that was the week before the end of the nine weeks. Now, look out. So many students are needing different types of support. Live and learn.
I'm glad the data's done (for now). I kept tweaking it after sharing it with principals. I think I finally like the way the graphs look.
Back at it and needing to type several reports. I'm reading a book on dyslexia--only theory not researched facts necessarily. Anyway, I'm reading it to refresh info from 5 years ago that I used with a student. State assessments are coming at us quickly. Best wishes in 2011. See you in February.

ReplyDeleteLife is just a technological mystery. It was good to see all of you again after the summer. Looking forward to a great school year.
ReplyDeleteBusy entering transfer kids IEP information... always something to do. I hope everyone else's year is going well so far.

Wow, what a bunch of bloggers! I have got to remember to check and use our blog!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the lisps thing - we started trying to make SPL more educationally relevant several years and cut back on artic some as well.
I agree about the busy year - trying to catch my breath too.
Looking forward to psych day October 8th. See you then!
Hey psychs! Did we decide to use the templates for our new longitudinal data?

ReplyDeleteOkay, the lisp thing needs more clarification for me. Maybe it's only viewed as a supplemental service? But, then, there's the issue of artic. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI used the 2010 template for the 3 years' data Marcy wants. I just left out the info for the now nonexistent indicator for reading 3,4,5 grades.
Also, anyone who has worked with Selective/Elective Mutism please call me as I have some questions.
Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jan, for the call to discuss Selective Mutism. Very interesting...
ReplyDeleteIs anyone done with there three years worth of data? If so, did you do a line graph?
ReplyDeleteYep. I did line graphs for my three years worth of data. I'll email you one as Marcy hasn't emailed me to tell me I did them wrong yet!

Finally made time to set this deal up! I thought I better make it happen before our meeting this Friday. I look forward to seeing everyone on Friday!
